We travel the world full time together as a family in our sailboat, SV Rum Barrel. When we're not on our boat we are on our next adventure... exploring something new.

Hi! I’m Addison. Finding thing’s to do with your family that everybody will enjoy is hard. Thankfully I’m here to give you some suggestions! First I talk about fun things to do with your family around the city and then i recommend places for you and your family to eat after your adventures. So make sure to read all the way to the end! <3
My family and I just recently visited Gig Harbor on our way out of the State on our Sailboat. We had been to Gig Harbor a few times in the past and we really enjoyed it. It’s actually where the boat we built originated from so it was bitter sweet saying good-bye once we passed through on the boat. These were the things we did with our family in Gig Harbor together that we really liked.
The Skansie Brothers Park is a fun place to run around. It’s next to a marina that you can walk along and check out the boats for when the kids get tired of the park. Located besides the park you’ll find a big building called the Net Shed. This is Gig Harbor’s oldest Net Shed and it’s filled with tons of historical artifacts. When you walk through you can learn a bit about the history of the items and what they were used for. Sometimes they hold events and farmers markets at the Skansie Brothers park located just outside the Net Shed. It’s definitely something to check out during your visit to Gig Harbor.
Crescent Creek Park is pretty big, it has a lot of grass and forest area. The park includes on-site parking, a playground for kids, a baseball field, a tennis court, a basketball court and picnic tables. So it’s overall a nice place to sit and have lunch with your family and then run around to get your energy out after. The rock climbing wall is along the “Captain’s Gig” ship and this park has a ton of swings. It’s a cool one to check out for sure.
I think the idea of a bridge where you write your initials and your significant others on a lock and leave it hanging there on the bridge is really cute. You don’t have to travel all the way to Paris to do it either since Gig Harbor has its very own. I really loved looking through all of the locks when we passed through Gig Harbor. My favorite lock you definitely need to try and spot said “I love pizza”. If that doesn’t describe me I don’t know what does.
@findingourtomorrow Is this on your bucket list too? 🗝💖🔓#lovelockbridge ♬ Yebba’s Heartbreak – Drake & Yebba
The Harbor History Museum
The Harbor History Museum is so cool! There’s so much to see inside and just like Tacoma’s museum they teach you a bit about the Gig Harbor history. They have real boats that used to go around Gig Harbor inside the museum that you can see and even get on! They even have a statue outside to take an instagram photo with! It’s a super fun place and one you have to take the kids to!
“Good Bye ✌🏽 Trolly People”… High-five to the first one to guess where that quote is from 😝. Another fun thing to do in Gig Harbor is to take a scenic Trolley Ride around town. The loop is so small that it’s a quick ride. It’s stroller friendly & super clean. The Trolley runs every 30 minutes and only costs $1 a person. Children 5 and under are free.
The farmer’s market hosts events, and isn’t open every Sunday or Saturday like you’d think. We where lucky to catch it when we did. This market offers fresh vegetables, fruits, and Sea Food. We got this awesome Oreo pie from a man here and if you go you’ll have to try it. If you plan a trip to the Market, make sure to get there early, because a lot of the foods are so good that they often sell out quick. Check out the Gig Harbor farmer’s market website to see what’s going on for when you visit!
Did you know you can take a Gondola Ride around the Harbor? We didn’t get the opportunity to take a gondola ride ourselves but we saw a bunch of them pass us on our boat and it looked like so much fun! We even heard them singing and have seen families take sunset excursions. They operate out of the Gig Harbor Marina & Boatyard and only do private rides. Check out this link for more info!

Around the Love Lock Bridge area is a house with giant sunflowers outside! Sunflowers are my favorite flowers, and these ones where so pretty and when I say giant I mean they where much bigger than my sister. Even if you’re just passing by them you definitely need a photo with them. It’s worth it. This is seasonal but she often plants other types of flowers outside. Depending on when you visit you’ll want to walk by to see what’s new. It’s definitely a cute spot to take a photo for your Instagram.
This is our families favorite burger spot in Washington. The Gourmet Burger Shop definitely has some of the best burgers I’ve ever had. You can sit inside or outside and they have the coolest nostalgic drinks. I got some Butter beer from the movie Harry Potter from their cooler and I was beyond happy. The burgers are pretty big too and the truffle fries are worth every dollar.
BBQ2U is like a grab and go BBQ spot with some seating area’s off to the side. It’s not as good as the BBQ we get when we’re in Texas but it’s just about the best we’ve found in Washington. I really liked the potato salad which I normally don’t like and BBQ meat’s there are super good. We tried the pork, chicken, and sausage. We also had their beans, coleslaw and fried pickles.
Anthony’s is your classic seafood restaurant with a killer view of the marina below it. You can also see the gondola Ferrier’s going by sometimes. They have a few different menu’s for brunch, dinner, and sunset. The food was so good, try the crab cakes here!! They were our favorite.
